How to change Windows CHKDSK count down time ?

Did you ever come across this windows check disk that checks your system for errors, bad sectors etc when you reboot your system? It gives you default 10 seconds to act upon. If you really need to scan then it’s ok but what if you relaxed a bit at the CHKDSK screen ? Especially the case of vista with bigger hard drives in your system it takes hours and hours to scan.

So here’s a way to increase :) or decrease  :( your CHKDSK count down time:

1. Open registry.

Warning: Before you do anything with registry. Just back it up.

2. Change this key value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerAutoChkTimeOut

Acceptable range: 0 to 259,200 seconds (3days)

If you set zero then you cannot cancel the operation.

That’s it you can now relax more……
